Using Oral History in Museums is an AASLH Technical Leaflet. AASLH Technical Leaflets are brief, practical guides on how to do history. Technical Leaflet #191 by Barbara Allen Bogart explains what oral history is while suggesting ways museums can incorporate oral histories into the documentation of collections' provenance, programming, and exhibitions. Also included are examples of historical societies and museums running continuous collection programs of oral histories to better document the history of a locale. Bogart primarily focuses on the historical and programmatic uses of oral histories but she also briefly addresses effective ways of conducting oral history interviews.
