Historic Landscapes and Gardens: Procedures for Restoration is an AASLH Technical Leaflet. AASLH Technical Leaflets are brief, practical guides on how to do history. Technical Leaflet #199 by John Jay Stewart, 1974; Revised By Deanna J. Kerrigan, 1997 tackles John Jay Stewart's original primer on restoration procedures for historic landscapes and gardens to reflect new techniques and resources. In this leaflet, readers find a step-by-step plan for carrying out the restoration process beginning with surveying existing conditions to continued maintenance of the landscape. Kerrigan takes into account practical concerns such as cost and resources available. She also provides solutions such as phased programming and substitutes for plants that may not be available.
