Course Description

In this course, students will be introduced to the Program Planning Cycle. The cycle includes identifying your organization’s needs, target audience, and resources. At the end of the course, students will have a framework to carry out program planning at their own organization, while having evaluated the current programs at their organization along the way.

Details

COST: $65 AASLH Members / $90 Nonmembers 

FORMAT: Online self-paced, broken into sections expected to be done over 5 weeks approximately 7-8 hours of work per week. While the course is self-paced, we have broken the learning down into 5 modules. Each module will contain a brief introductory presentation, readings and/or videos, Knowledge Checks, and Put it into Practice activities. You will only be graded on the Knowledge Checks, but you will have unlimited attempts to pass them.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Define and list the stages of the Program Planning Cycle
  • Evaluate current programs at their organization.
  • Implement program planning at their organization

Cancellation/Refunds for onsite workshops must be submitted in writing via email to learn@aaslh.org or mail to 2021 21st Ave S., Suite 320 Nashville, TN 37212. Cancellations made prior to the early-bird registration deadline date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made between the early-bird deadline date and eight days prior to the workshop will be subject to a $55 processing/materials charge. No refunds will be given within seven days of the workshop date. AASLH is not responsible for cancellations that were mailed or emailed but never received.

Using the provided Program List template, create a list of current programs at your organization. Then, evaluate if the programs connect to the organization’s mission and strategic plan. If a program does not connect to either, consider why it might still be a current program.
