Join us for a webinar in partnership with Made By Us to learn how museums can take part in Civic Season, a nationwide initiative connecting communities to history and civic engagement. This session will feature insights from Made By Us partners who have participated in Civic Season, sharing their experiences and programming ideas. Whether you’re looking to build on existing programs or create something new, this webinar will provide inspiration and practical tips to help your institution get involved.

Cancellation/Refunds for onsite workshops must be submitted in writing via email to learn@aaslh.org or mail to 2021 21st Ave S., Suite 320 Nashville, TN 37212. Cancellations made prior to the early-bird registration deadline date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made between the early-bird deadline date and eight days prior to the workshop will be subject to a $55 processing/materials charge. No refunds will be given within seven days of the workshop date. AASLH is not responsible for cancellations that were mailed or emailed but never received.

Raina Melvin
Director of Programming and Engagement
Locust Grove
Raina Melvin is the Director of Programming and Engagement at Historic Locust Grove She is a citizen of the Comanche Nation of the Penateka and Yamparika bands. She has held positions in the United States and abroad at First Americans Museum, Science Museum Oklahoma, Nano Nagle Place in Cork, Ireland, and the National Museum of Ireland - Antiquities. Raina received a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology, classical humanities, and History from the University of Missouri–Columbia and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from University College Cork. For the last three years, Raina has been an advisor for Made By Us's Civic Season, a national initiative focused on engaging Gen Z in civic participation, and recently for the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation Indigenous Interpretation Advisory Committee.

Candace Bey
Community Engagement Manager
Jane Addams Hull-House
Candace Bey is an educator, cultural worker and very proud Chicagoan. Her aim is to share and engage with community histories related to Chicago, Labor and Leisure and African-American stories. She currently works from the Hull-House Museum as the Community Engagement Manager where you can find her running programs, facilitating workshops and giving the best historical tours in the city. Her favorite pastime is hosting her friends from out of town and designing bespoke experiences for them in an effort to convince them to move to the Second City (second to none!).
