Webinar Description

Today’s tourists want authentic, place-based experiences. To meet that demand, tourism offices are marketing their destinations’ unique heritage and culture. But too often, museums—the caretakers of their community’s material history and cultural traditions—are left out of the tourism conversation.

Join heritage and cultural tourism consultant Heidi Schlag and Visit Frederick’s Sr. Marketing Manager Jake Wynn to explore how museums can work with their local Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to attract more visitors, increase visibility, and strengthen community connections. Learn how to leverage DMO resources like marketing, PR, social media, and itinerary development to make your site a key part of your region’s tourism strategy. If you’ve ever struggled to get your museum noticed by visitors or wished you had more support in promoting your programs and exhibits, this webinar will provide practical strategies to help you forge meaningful partnerships and bring more people through your doors.

This webinar is sponsored by Brightr Travel.

The Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations (STEPS) from AASLH is a self-study, self-paced assessment tool designed specifically for small- to mid-sized history organizations, including volunteer-run institutions. Through a workbook, online resources, and an online community, organizations enrolled in STEPS review their policies and practices and benchmark themselves against national standards.
